One part mudcloth, one part map, Blocktown represents the area surrounding Grandma's farm in Dola, Ohio. The nickname was given for the square configuration of the country roads. I used the idea of African mudcloth and its symbolic motifs to come up with some of my own symbols. Along with the barns and church where we spent every candlelit Christmas Eve, you'll find hay bales, silos, corn fields, the old water pump we drank from as kids, and the beer joint where Grandma used to jitterbug - my most favorite memories wrapped up in one pattern.
